Woodstove Exchange Program

What is the Woodstove Exchange Program?
The Woodstove Exchange Program is designed to encourage residents to exchange their old, inefficient, non-EPA certified wood burning appliances for low emissions appliances, including new CSA/EPA certified clean burning wood stoves and other qualified appliances. (The program is operated at a community level through grants provided by the province).

New technology appliances are proven to burn 1/3 less wood, to reduce emissions by up to 70%, and to significantly reduce the risk of chimney fires.

RDCK residents who exchange their old, non-EPA certified wood burning appliance for a qualified CSA/EPA approved one, are eligible to receive a $250 rebate (from the province) and another $100 rebate from the RDCK, providing that the old wood stove has been rendered non-reusable and has been recycled at a Regional Disctrict facility. Rebates are LIMITED, and will be assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Who can participate?
Residents living within the RDCK electoral areas can participate in the program. To be eligible for the $250 + $100 rebate you MUST both live within the RDCK, AND the wood stove exchange must take place within the RDCK. You will also be reimbursed for the cost of disposing your old stove (up to a maximum of $40).
