CRESTON & DISTRICT COMMUNITY COMPLEX FACILITY ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
November 14, 2008
CURLING RINK
In the curling rink, forming structures for the concrete work have been removed from the header trench as well as from the column bases. Sleeves have been formed into the header trench to allow for the under-slab heating lines. The footings to support the curling lounge viewing area over sheets 3 to 6 is complete and covered with foam in preparation for the backfill.

Backfilling and tamping continues in order to raise and level the floor surface for the thermal storage piping. The floor must be raised and compacted to the red line level in order for the pipes to be laid on Monday.

The CDCC is working with local contractors to try to maximize their labour and machinery input to speed completion of the required work.

The Arena Changeroom
The 185 meter jungle of rebar and conduit is now covered in 10” of hardened concrete. The scaffolding has been removed and the block work is commencing in the 6 new arena changerooms.

The project to reroute the sewer lines through the Thunder Cat room is nearly completed. The pipes have been tied in and teams are in the final stages of restoring the changeroom’s hallway.

Aquatic Facility area
The shape of the pool is beginning to take form, even if it is only with dirt walls. Excavators have finished digging and soil is being tamped so that concrete forming can begin in preparation for the footings to be formed and poured. Neon tape marks the structural footing indicators that stand tall in the wet fill, showing the contractors where the cement will be poured.

Civil Work – Sewer Rerouting
The final tie-in of the storm water lines is complete! The hole has been back filled and tamped and the fences have been taken down in front of the complex and relocated to the aquatic centre excavation.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE HAPPEN WITHIN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS:
- The block walls dividing the changerooms will commence.
- Heating lines will be laid on Monday in the curling rink and the floor continued to be built up.
- The footings will be formed and poured for the new Aquatic centre.
- Civil work with water systems will begin to the north of the complex.
This project is funded by The Canada-British Columbia Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund, the residents of the Creston Valley, and donations.
