CRESTON & DISTRICT COMMUNITY COMPLEX

FACILITY ENHANCEMENT PROJECT

May 15, 2009

Aquatic Centre

The surveyor lays out the final corner of the addition to the front lobby which will house exit stairs from the Creston Room and upstairs. The new reception desk will be directly in front of the current Canyon room windows. Brooke Ross and Stu Durning examine where the elevator and stairs will go. The elevator will not be for general use—the intent is that it be used for patrons with physical limitations. Everyone else will derive the fitness benefits of using the stairs.

This is the notch for the future front entrance  - you pass through double doors and will be facing the new reception desk with the choice of going right to the arena, left to the curling club or slightly  further left to the pool change rooms.

Above are the boys from Venture Mechanical out of Castlegar installing all the plumbing for the pool change rooms and washrooms on the main level.

Below are photos of both the deep end of the pool and the hot tub area showing the beginnings of the concrete form layout as well as the blockouts for the main drains. Future shots will show the multiple layers of piping to make the whole aquatic centre function.

Arena Changerooms

Exits signs are up, sprinkler system is hooked up, rubber skate flooring is in place and water is turned on in order to bring us closer to occupancy for the arena changerooms. Many of the colours will be used throughout the building to eventually tie the whole Community Complex together. Change room doors will have automatic closers on them as well as separately keyed so players from one team cannot go into a competitors changeroom during a critical tournament and dull their skates although, to date, that has not happened.

Showers in the first couple change rooms have finished being grouted and the shower consoles have been mounted—there are still some modifications to be made to some of the bathroom fixtures however Darren Ward from Septra is doing a final mop in change rooms 5 and 6 so that the bands from the Blossomfest weekend can use temporarily as a green room or staging area.
