| CRESTON & DISTRICT COMMUNITY COMPLEX FACILITY ENHANCEMENT PROJECT March 20, 2009 Aquatic Centre Construction begins to creep around the building as the emergency exit stairs from the Creston room are relocated to be able to continue building and not block exits. In the pool mechanical basement, Doug, Charlie and the boys pour the floor of the surge tank which will catch the overflow of water when everyone jumps in the pool at once. Meanwhile, a ramp is built and compacted over a previous poured wall to gain access to pour the changeroom and fitness room floors. Outside the pool walls next to the soccer field, the excavation is slowing being filled and compacted as this will eventually carry a walkway from the front of the building to the back. A solid, compacted base is required in this area as it will be used for cranes and construction access to lift wall panels, glazing and other related items. The walls will be insulated as they are backfilled to prevent heat loss. You can see the forms for the columns that will be visible in the pool area when finished. NW Construction created an innovative forming procedure using PVC pipe that creates a finished half round column for aesthetics and the rectangular back portion will be within the wall. Arena Changerooms The arena changerooms move forward as the first coat of paint is put on, giving an idea of what the finished product will look like. Below you can see the feature wall colours and the start of the bench installation. In front of the bench are the hooks yet to be mounted on the walls for hanging equipment or jerseys. Most of the fixtures like sinks, toilets taps etc. have arrived and are piled awaiting installation. You definitely need a road map to keep track of the plumbing - there are hot and cold lines as well as mixed water lines, trap primer lines, hose bib lines and water bottle filler lines and that’s just for supplying water! The Razor Concrete boys place the first portion of the emergency exit stairs leading out of the arena changerooms. Tyler Mailhot from Mayday Electric makes sense of all the controls and sensors that will be determining what fans run and lights get lit. All changerooms will have occupancy sensors which will turn on lights and ventilation fans only when the room is occupied. The corridor now has all the energy efficient fluorescent lights up which brighten things up immensely. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
