CRESTON & DISTRICT COMMUNITY COMPLEX

FACILITY ENHANCEMENT PROJECT

January 23, 2009

Aquatic Centre

Progress continues on the Aquatic portion of the building as wall forms are erected, poured and then stripped. The footing is just about completed with the remaining portion that will encompass the new front lobby to be poured over the next month or so. The majority of the lower floor columns have been poured.

Hockey Changerooms

Finishing the blockwork in the arena changerooms is the key focus this week as the majority of the electrical has been pulled in preparation for painting and then fixtures. The 4400 lb. air handling unit was lowered into its final resting place on the roof last week.

Curling Rink

The big stuff is done in the curling rink as the last of the walkways were poured this week and the forms stripped. Arco Welding is finalizing some welding as well as the cover plates that will sit overtop the refrigeration lines while Mayday Electric installs conduit for future events in the rink. The walkways will be covered with rubber flooring to minimize slips as well as provide a great looking surface.

The pounding of a very large excavator mounted jackhammer filled our ears early Monday morning as the front entrance to the curling club as well as the exit stairs from the curling lounge and Lister room were demolished. Luckily it was all over in a couple days and now the ground preparation for footings and formwork can begin. This brings a whole new look to the front of our building and is the area where the new main stair as well as the elevator will be situated.
